The one year MBA program is fast getting popularity because of its cost effective and time saving nature. Moreover, the outcome of a one year MBA program and a two year program is almost the same. This is why naturally more students are opting for the one year course as it would help them to secure a career in a lesser period of time.

However, choosing between a 1 year MBA course and a two year one can be quite difficult if we eliminate the obvious reasons. There are various pros and cons that need to be evaluated before choosing any particular program. The pros and cons of a 1 year MBA course are discussed below.

Pros

Cost effectiveness: Given the fact that a one year MBA program is shorter in time than a course of two years it is essentially cheaper. Besides, the course takes up less of your time and would allow you to complete it even when you have other commitments. Completing your MBA in a year will help you to get a job faster and the cost spent behind the course will easily be refurbished. Moreover, you will need to pay lower tuition fees and also lower hostel fees. All these make the one year MBA program a lucrative option for students who want to get an MBA in a shorter span of time and without spending much.
Effective as a two year course: There is no need to think that enrolling for a one year MBA program will give you lesser job opportunities or you will be under paid. The executives of the hiring companies do not discriminate between students holding the MBA degree from top business schools based on the time span of the program. If you successfully get into a top class business school then doing the one year or the two year program will fetch the same results.
Cons
Lack of comprehensive learning: Due to the shorter span of time many students can miss out the opportunity of comprehensive learning and thus miss the details.
No opportunity of internship: Another downside of the one year MBA program is that it does not offer any internship facility for the students to give then hands on experience.
Thus, after carefully comparing the pros and cons one should make his pick between the one year and two year program and go with the one that best suits his needs.
